Beginning April 1, we rolled-out a special PrePass discount for all members and AADT clients for $13.59/month. Existing members’ rates will be modified to this rate at the end of our fiscal year, which will end June 30, of this year.
PrePass is an automatic vehicle identification (AVI) system that enables participating transponder-equipped commercial vehicles to be pre-screened throughout the nation at designated weigh stations, port-of-entry facilities and agricultural interdiction facilities. Cleared vehicles are then able to “bypass” the facility while traveling at highway speed, eliminating the need to stop. The savings are big, in terms of time, fuel, operational expenses and even (are you reading this, CARB) emissions!
Here are some of the direct savings associated with PrePass there are many other indirect benefits. The total direct savings PER BYPASS is at least $10.48, its simple math.

•  Time Savings - Estimated time saved per month with PrePass. Value is based on an Iowa State University Center for Transportation Research and Education study which showed an average time savings per bypass of approximately 5 minutes.
• Fuel Savings - Estimated diesel fuel saved per month with PrePass. Value is based on data from, the Iowa study, which showed savings up to 0.4 of a gallon of fuel with each successful bypass. At $4.45/gal, this is equivalent saving to $1.78 per bypass.
• Operating Cost Savings - Estimated vehicle operating costs saved per month with PrePass include, but are not limited to: vehicle maintenance, driver’s wages, administrative costs, insurance. Value is based on an Oct. 2007 FMCSA study (Economic Analysis and Business Case for Motor Carrier Industry Support of CVISN) which showed operating cost savings to be approximately $8.68 per bypass.
