Our 71st Summer Board Meeting held at the DoubleTree in Ontario June 23 was another great success and reflected a growing and diverse staff and membership. We had a variety of special events that week, starting with an Insurance Risk Transfer and Lien Law seminar on Thursday the 21. The following day after the EC meeting, we hosted a meet and greet fundraiser for Senator de Leon, who is author of a number of industry bills over the last three years. On Saturday, our legal counsel and lobbyist Brooks Ellison gave his usual Capitol updates during the luncheon (sponsored by Dan Bertrand of Armstrong insurance). Other politicos who stopped by the meeting, included Mike Morrell, the Assemblyman representing the Upland area’s 63rd District and Donna Lowe who is running for the new 41st District (Claremont) assembly seat. Mrs. Lowe explained her platform – JOBS, JOBS, and JOBS! Here are some of her comments: “In order to have a flourishing state, California must become ‘business friendly’ again.” She added that we need to adopt an “open for business” attitude and repeal the excessive regulations that are destroying our economy. We are in full support of pro-business candidates like this in either party. Steve Milloy from JunkScinece.com was the highlighted speaker at the afternoon meeting following lunch. Several DPF service companies also spoke during the session including Mark Sturdevant of LA Freightliner. Mark provided some great input concerning CARB emission regulations and compliance.
